g'day.

moi.

i hate to break it to you, but it probably wasn't 'sterilized' disinfected, maybe. unless you have an autoclave, or access to one. or happen to have wavacide kicking around. but i'll move on.

well, sounds neat anyhow, i think i get it. any reason why you choose kilt pins? over, say, quality equipment?

someone's gonna

there is a little more to it than that. but i ain't no expert

welcome to the group, take the critiques you may get in stride

well, piercings needles and jewelry aren't all that expensive online. but if it worked for you, that's cool.

actually, i meant piercing in general. as in, there's more to piercing than taking care of it afterwards.

here, read this: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/bodyart

V> dive in with a question. How many people 'residing' herein, who are not V> professional piercers, have pierced themselves? In way of Introduction, I

i have. navel, when i was seventeen years old. new, autoclaved 14ga needle; new 14ga CBR. betadyne thrice, fresh pennington forceps with a rubberband.

i still wear the original ring exactly where i put it.

V> I know more about certain aspects of wound care, and needles than most V> Medical technicians. (Not Nurses, but the technicians, who simply need to

then you know a kilt pin is more traumatic to the skin than a super-sharp bi- or tri-beveled hollow piercing needle, right? how 'BOUT that autoclave.

Don't expect me to believe that all of your piercings, tattoos, and other body modifications were not influenced by something you've seen and/or read about. You may have reasons for having body modifications that go beyond the 'that looks cool, I think I'll have one' line of reasoning, but to criticize the idea from the source of which it was generated seems absurd in this context. What does it really matter if the gentleman with the kilt pin saw his inspiration from National Geographic or a Dee Snider film? If I read his posting as he intended it to be read, I interpreted his comments as having seen a way to further enhance his septum work. Whether you like him or not, Fakir Musafar (and I gather a lot of RABbits have differing opinions on his views) and others of his ilk have body modification histories that are a direct result of things they saw in a magazine or read in a Ripley's cartoon, etc. Certainly they have developed their philosophies beyond the replication of the printed page and have given their own meanings and spirituality (if you want to refer to it in that manner) to their experimentation and work, but the initial impetus remains the same

You missed the point, I think. Theres a marked difference between wanting to stretch your lobes because you were reading about it in national geographic and wanting to pierce your septum because of a REALLY awful movie that came from the ass of an 80's glam rocker.
