Teal!

I like the layout on the main page (test.html), though I think that the little javascript thingy for the name of the gallery and a blowup of the sample image was a little silly. Mainly, having it as a big black rectangle with a white text box below it if there was no mouseover made it look weird. The blown-up thumbnails also looked really grainy.

The gallery test looked cool to me.

I'm working on some new layout ideas for the gallery... Still keeping it nice and simple (and fast loading)

Is that good or bad?

Part of it too is designing a layout that gives me some interesting options for the future. Another part is something flashy to increase visual appeal and to keep up with the joneses, but without impeding the speed of the interface.

That can be changed. Instead of black, it will likely use a BME logo, or a quote of the day, or something, in the final version.

That I may fix.

stay away from colours?

at least, IMHO, keep the background neutral.

And 'neutral' doesn't have to be plain black or white; but teal seems too, uhm, candy-colored to me.

I'd abstain from the javascript gimmick; it IS really a gimmick because it does not give extra info. The blown-up thumbnails are grainy, and are there anyway (have you ever thought about using title graphics where we can actually *see* the piercings in question ;> - the cart piercing as well as the industrial on test.html are not visible).

Javascript can be very neat if you, for instance, only display images and the descriptions are only revealed 'onMouseOver' (or, of course, the other way round):

(Yes, I have too much time on my hands... and an HTML addiction)

Just my $.02.

SL/B> And yes, I know it doesn't work on a text-only browser... But hey, the SL/B> picture galleries!

but text-only browsers can route pictures through zgv. if you fix bme so java is necessary, you're blocking everyone who uses lynx.

okay, you're just blocking me. but, uh, i whine a *lot*.

Yeah, but I just got the absolute bottom-of-the-line machine, which just comes in 'blueberry'.

PS. If you're wondering why it's for crossplatform testing and development.
