Hey All,

I've got a need for a new tattoo and I'm looking for images or things symbolic of a Guardian or Protector. I've already got a couple of dragons, so I'm looking for something new.

Thanks.

Or you could go Egyptian with the Sphinx or ancient with the Colossus of Rhodes. Hell, go with the hermit from Zeppelin 4 for an all time guardian.

Someone had told me before about Gargoyles. Any truth in that?

on the subject of gargoyles, as far as I can remember they were used to ward off the influence of evil or bad things. I have a good cluster of them in my room, so it can't hurt. do you have a spirit animal?

Probably. Why else would they be on Catholic Cathedrals and churches? Funny thing, some of them even look like people who were powers in church. The lesson? Don't piss off the stone masons (or tattoo artists). You won't like how they make the future remember you.

Hey, I was just thinking Gargoyles! Or perhaps an Angel or Saint. There also runes that mean protection. Mirrors are commonly used in protection spells to guard against evil influences. Jupiter was the guardian of law and virtue. Thor was the guardian of the gods. Cerberus guards that gates of hell. I guess it all depends on what speaks stongest to you.

Mine are too! Well, Tabby's old, but she still barks up a storm when she wants to.

My guardian tattoo is a Griffon.

Yep. While mechanically they were mostly waterspouts, they were also considered guardians.

Gargoyles have always seemed to work for me. Between the two of us, DinGo and i had a large number of gargoyles in our house and were never once attacked by zombies. Or evil spirits for that matter. Although we did have a kitchen cupboard full of evil.

I have a gargoyle bird house, and nothing's ever nested there. I guess the goyles are protecting it against birds.
