hole in tongue

hello all. extreme newbie here, but i can't find the answer in the faq so i'm skipping the lurking phase and jumping right in i got my tongue pierced two weeks ago and there's still kinda a white ridge around the top, which from what i have gathered is quite normal. it doesn't hurt too much, but when i stick my tongue out, the hole seems to be really really big and i'm convinced i can feel saliva go through it any comments? thx

I used Qtips to swab both ends of the hole as well as the balls of the stud to get that white flem out of there. Use listerine all the time especially after every meal. When washing my mouth out with listerine I tried to push the stud up and down to get listerine inside the hole. That's just what I did, if it works for you, good deal. As for the hole being too big you can always switch to a wider gauge once your ready to switch jewelry. Do all that and you should be straight, but I'm no pro so check it out with your piecer.

that white stuff is normal, it dead skin cells emerging from the piercing, as for the wider hole, it normal for 14ga piercing to widen the hole easier. Its so thin if you eat and your not careful it will cut through it like butter. When you have it for a month, i would recommend goin to at least a 10ga, i have mine at a 4ga and i have had no probs........

hi there i just got my piercing 3 weeks ago this thursday and i have the same problem a little white ridge around the barbell in the top of my tongue. yes i am a bit worry. but i don't feel the saliva running through. i am gonna try rinsing with salt water instead.write me back and i will let you know how it goes ok.

Hi, I recently, had my tongur pierced ,and experienced the same white ridging, arounf the hole, I called my piercer, who told me it was nothing to worry about, it's a scab. It's now gone (5 weeks after piercing) and my hole has shrunk too, Time, my friend, seems to heal all!
