OK this is going to sound stupid but I am considering getting my hood pierced soon and I am wondering what to expect (for pain) when it is getting done. I have two friends who have had it done but their piercing were done totally different from each other .(one is horizontal and the other is vertical). One told me hers hurt like hell and the other told me she didn't feel it. When I get mine done I am planning on going with the vertical peircing. Please tell me what to expect-I have a half way decent pain tolerance but am getting scared from hearing that it hurts like hell or people saying 'OUCH' when I ask someone about it. Thanks in advance.

My Fiancee has hers done and has had it for about a year now, she dances part time and the night after she had it done she was on stage doing pole tricks and considering she whines constantly when I tattoo her I would say her pain tolerence is fairly low.

Everyone is going to have different experiences with this pierce (and any other one for that matter). Most people say it didn't hurt much, just a hard pinch and then it was over. Mine was painful...I probably wouldn't muster the courage to do it again but I don't plan on ever taking it out so that hopefully won't be a concern. Like I said the actual pierce was painful to me (kind of had to expect that with a needle going through that senstive tissue) but almost no pain after. If the BB got snagged or something it hurt but otherwise no problems, healed fast and it's a new experience to wear jeans for a little while =)

Good luck!

I can't tell you what to expect, since everyone reacts differently. YMMV is the best I can do, other than tell you my experiences. I've had my hood pierced 3 times (twice horizontal and once vertical, plus two triangles), and yes they all hurt, but it was only for a fraction of a second. It's over before you know it (as long as you have a competent piercer). If you want it, it's worth the momentary discomfort.

I had mine done about five months ago (vertical, 12ga), and I'd say it was my easiest piercing to date. The pain was intense, but over in a snap. Walking home was absolutely fine, and it healed faster and easier than any other. However, no other piercing has *ever* made me involuntarily twitch, even though I was relaxed and actually concentrationg on keeping still. Two friends of mine have the same piercing, same guage, and both say their experiences were really similar- intense pain, the whole body twitch thing, but over and done with just like that. Totally worth it, IMO.

YMMV, of course.
