Hi all -

I just had my nostril pierced. It looks good, didn't hurt much (less than my hood, more than my lobes...similar to the tragus, but the pain was over quicker). I wanted it on the left, to balance the amount of piercings on each side of my face, but it made it look like my nose was bent weirdly. So it went on the right.

I went to a new piercer this time and she was awesome. Friendliest body-modification professional I've ever met, and really quick. But I was given some grey looking organic sea salt to make salt water rinses with. I may get brave enough to try it...I did ask her about the fish-poop issue, and she said she was concerned about it initially, but it seems to work very well. We'll see.

However, next time I may take a gag into the piercing room...to try and combat the extreme verbal diarrhea I get after being pierced. How embarrassing.

Anyone had any experience using LITHA on a nostril piercing? Intuitively it seems like a bad idea, but I'm happy to be corrected. Perhaps LIMA with just salt water rinses?

Cheers,

Yay I just got a septum piercing yesterday

I talked to my piercer about how I don't want to use Dial or Bactine, she said 'well, you really should use *something* antibacterial...one or the other' but I still don't think I will. So far all I've done is one sea salt compress (and I looked really hot with cotton balls stuck up my nose, let me tell ya) and I plan on seeing how it goes with the LIMA method. The only thing I've tried with LITHA so far is an ear stretch. No problems at all, but I know a stretch is different from a piercing...

Suggestions, anyone? Thanks,

i healed my second nostril piercing with something closer to LITHA than LIMA, & had zero problems. 16ga jewelry, 13ga needle. healed a hell of a lot faster than the first one (several years ago) with bactine & attention. (16ga jewelry, 15ga needle; this probably also made a difference.)

Hrm. Mine *was* happy, as happy as a 22 hour old nostril piercing can be. Until I ran my hand down my face, forgetting it was there and pulling it half out. OW. I pushed it back in, whimpered on Roger's shoulder for a minute or two while the kettle boiled, and made a cup of weak warm salt water with one drop of lavender oil (suggestion from aftercare sheet). Ahhh...all pain gone. It remains to be seen whether my nose falls off or not.

My mother-in-law saw my nose (OK, I pointed at my nose going 'Check it out!', and said 'Ah. That's...pretty. You're not going to get your tongue pierced are you?' I guess that's approval, of sorts. :o)

Cheers,

*wince* I've done that a few times myself. I think mostly because it was happy and I got careless. I forgot that it wasn't all nice and healed up and needed pampering. Mine calms down quick when that happens now thank goodness. I think it's mostly the bend going through the piercing that makes it hurt, particularly when it's YANKED out. *ow*

That reminds me that my parents and other family members don't know I did this... and I'm going to visit them in a couple days. :/

You'd think that being 28 and out on my own for eight years would mean that I wouldn't be nervous about what they think. Well they survived the tattoo they'll deal with this. Though I would prefer to be wearing that itty bitty domed screw rather than this one with the ball end which is definitely not subtle....

A nostril piercing does make your eyes water, but I don't know about the crying thing. I've never had anyone cry on me over a nostril piercing, but then again, not everyones pain tolerance is the same.

When I had mine done, it didn't hurt too badly. I did have a couple of tears stream down my face, but I hear that's normal. I didn't tear up because it hurt so bad, it just happened, and it just lasted a couple of minutes.

After that, the piercing didn't bother me at all. It's been a year now, and I still like it.
