I thought Iso. alcohol didnt really kill many things. I think Lish recommended 1:10 bleach (and washing off before insertion) as the most useful household cleaner. Yeah, theyre married, but for anyone else out there..... -Moth

Hi there To the experts in little beasties, germs and things suchlike...
To set the scene- Dearest has pierced nipples (done about 4 years ago) & variously wears 14Ga gold BB & chains, 14Ga SSS CBR or 14Ga SSS curved BB. I have a frenum piercing (done about 4 months ago) & normally wear a 14Ga SSS BB, the whole thing will be academic shortly as I intend to go to 10Ga, but anyway. We sometimes share jewellery, or, to be more precise, I occasionally borrow one of her curved BB's. All our jewellery is stored in a little sealed container of Iso alcohol and when the jewellery is removed we always wash it in soapy water and rinse it well before putting it away.
Are our hygiene precautions adequate? If not what should we be doing?
Also a question about stretching- I've tried larger (10) gauge jewellery in my frenum piercing and, while it is little trouble to insert with a little lubrication, it was still very tight after a day or two. Should the piercing be overstretched so that it 'lets go' (pops?) and doesn't grip the jewellery tightly then will presumably have to be re-healed, or will it eventually loosen up just by inserting the desired size?
