My wife and her sister, with whom she was recently reunited after having been adopted as an infant, have decided they'd like to get matching tattoos which symbolize their bond. The big question now is what to get. Can anyone suggest an appropriate design that would illustrate this graphically?

My four sisters and I got a Sister Tattoo. You can see it here:

As far as a design, we really have no idea what makes your wife or her sister tick. I'd say that it's up to them alone to decide what to get. I know that other people's ideas can be useful, but it's a bigger thrill if they come up with the concept themselves. At least I think so, anyway.

Once they design it and have it tattooed, make sure they take pictures & post the URL here. I'd be interested in seeing it.

Now that's not a bad idea! Maybe allow for some variations since they're not identical twins (I'm assuming).

L> ps,they don't have a 'bond'.

Hey, Lish, don't you have any sibs? They DO have a bond.

I have a sister and a brother, so I know what I'm talking about.

Are you saying that they don't have a bond just because one was adopted outand they grew up separately?

That does not diminish their connection, nor thier love for each other.

Why are you so bitter and negative?

I'm not harrassing you, btw, not that you'd care if I was, I'm just asking.

Yes it does. I have siblings that grew up away from me that I don't really consider part of my 'family'. We came from the same sperm factory, that is it. IMHO, t takes more than a tearful Sally Jessy-style reunion to create a bond worthy of a tattoo.

maybe the YING-YANG symbol..... one sister get's YING, and the other YANG.

For me, this symbol is very powerful....... so simple, though it expresses so much!

shut up!

First off I'm guessin you are most likely a wanabe hippie, or into martial arts. Secondly if you understand the symbol you wouldn't suggest it, think about it. Thirdly asking for ideas for tattoos is stupid, when I mentioned the double helix it was a freakin joke, worse yet the guy askin isn't even the one getting it done.

Ummmmmmmm..........

It expresses OPPOSITES.

FEMALE/MALE, DARK/LIGHT, that kinda thing.

I'm thinking they might be going fer a kinda sameness theme, being sisters and all.

Just a pedantic note: It's *Yin* and Yang.
