Allright, I have a slight problem. Had a pair of nipple rings for about 9 months now. Seems like every month or so they begin to behave themselves and look like they're nearly healed. And then they'll swell up for a few days and at the end of the period, a sheath of skin will 'roll' out from the inside of the piercing and it'll turn into a fresh wound. Anyone successfully heal through this phenomenon? Should I just leave the piecings alone?

YES!!! Stop turning the rings. You are pulling the newly formed tissue out.

(snippies)
Yes ... I was 4 months or so into my healing of a nipple when it did this. Well, not the swelling part, but the tube part. I was spinning it like I did every day in the shower and it seemed a little tight. So, I spun a little harder and schloop!! out came the tube 'o skin.
I freaked a little, then assumed it was scar tissue ... and was more careful about spinning for a couple of weeks. If it seemed a little tight at spin time, I just didn't spin it that day. It was a little tender for a couple of days afterwards.
I had no further complications and healed completely in about a month.
Speaking of leaving your piercings alone to heal ... the whole incident happened about 3 weeks after I decided to stop daily soap cleaning. I would just spin it with water every day, and wash with soap maybe once a week.

A guy in my twin's class managed to rip this tube not once, but twice!! He's an otherwise smart guy, though... Boggles the mind.

i've also have this problem.
i give it a soap clean every night and spin the ring with the soap. it was all fine and then the suddenly the one day it was sore and the ring wouldnt spin when i was cleaning it, so i also pushed a bit harder and the tube came out.
i didnt want to leave it as i was afraid it would continue to heal with the ring attached to the skin and it would become permanent.
wont not spinning the ring when it feels tight just let it heal more and become permanently attached to the skin? or will it relax in a day or two and then i can spin the ring when cleaning? or how can i get it loose from the skin without tearing or pulling the tube out?

Also, don't use too warm water when rinsing or washing the piercings.
