I developed some sort of incredibly severe allergic reaction on Wednesday night, so my skin has been getting progressively puffy and pink over the past couple of days. Every inch of my body except my face and ears is all freakily colored and puffy.

The weird thing is, my tattoo and a little radius around each star is still absolutely pristine, unaffected by the allergic reaction. Anyone know why that would be? My doctor said she didn't know, and that with a reaction as severe as this it seems the tattoo would be just as affected.

On the upside, I did have some fun scaring little kids in the supermarket.

I broke out seriously once soon after getting my tattoo. The rash was everywhere I scratched, at first. Since I didn't scratch my tattoo, it wasn't affected. The redness later spread across my shoulders and face and didn't itch any more, but still didn't affect my tattoo (which is on my shoulder).

I think it was my ragweed or dust alergy that began the whole thing, but that it was a plant based conditioner/hair dye that made it spread. My only guess about the tattoo is that I was more careful of keeping things away from it (including the conditioner) than from the rest of the area.

This makes me think of an ER-esque scene, where some poor college student is rushed in...

Nurse: He's got a paper and two presentations tomorrow, Doctor. Doctor: Does he have insurance? Nurse: Here is your million dollars. Doctor: Get me that drug for emergency allergic reactions! He's going to be in the hospital tomorrow if it kills me!!

That reminds me of what I'd do in middle school when I wanted to stay home. I'd take a couple Niacin tablets, and in about 15-20 minutes, I'd be hot, red, blotchy, and prickly-feeling. When timed correctly, I'd get to stay home. I'd just have to make sure to get my mom to believe me before the effects went away in roughly 15 minutes. Kids, never ever do that. You must attend school if it kills you.
